350th anniversary of the Great Plague

Today marks the 350th anniversary of the onslaught of the Great Plague which decimated businesses and communities and saw as many as 10,000 people die every day.The panic began on February 12, 1665. Exactly 350 years ago this week in a house in London’s Drury Lane, a man died unexpectedly. His cause of death was bubonic plague.

How history repeats itself, Britain is now facing another plague, with which most of the towns and cities mentioned above are on the front line. This time the plague is caused by two legged verrmin. Obviously Bradford was not infected by the plague of 1665, but it took hold there in my late childhood, the 1960's.
