A layer of living scum only a cell thick may have covered parts of Earth more than 3 billion years ago, surviving with the help of nitrogen that these slimy microbes pulled from the atmosphere, a new study finds.
This finding suggests that nitrogen may have helped some planets, such as Mars, support life, researchers say.
Although life can exist without oxygen — and did, in the earliest days of life on Earth — without nitrogen, such organisms would be scarce. Nitrogen is needed to create proteins, DNA and RNA, and necessary for plants to grow and photosynthesize. It is an essential nutrient for all life on Earth and must have been available since its origins, researchers said.

Give me one real scientific (if your a true scientist) piece of evidence, not assumptions, (such as the geological timeline, transitional fossils, vestigial organs). Evidences that can be tested today, observed happening today, something we can touch, see, hear, smell, feel, or just observe for 10 seconds and I might give macro-evolution some scientific interest that it would deserve. The overall process of the scientific method involves making conjectures ( hypotheses), deriving predictions from them as logical consequences, and then carrying out experiments based on those predictions.
Hypotheses: Animals change from one kind (species) to another.
Predictions: We will observe this happening over time between current living organisms and their offspring.
Experiment: Bacteria (no new species) Fruit fly (no new species) mammals (still mammals) insects (still insects) NO SPECIES TRANSITION FOUND THROUGH EXPERIMENT THROUGHOUT HUMAN HISTORY!
Conclusion: Macro-evolution, still in hypothesis stage, not even a theory.
