Zebra is not black and white

The results showed the spectrum striped species overlaps with where fly bites are the most active, regardless of the species, and where bands occur on the body, according to a study published on April 1 in the journal Nature Communications.

Scientists have not really seen zebras in the wild, to see if the bites of flies avoid landing on them, in particular, because it is difficult to get close to the animals. It is also not known why the fly bites stay away from the strip.

It might be well to remember that while black is a good absorber of heat but a good radiator as well. Look at the blood vessels beneath the stripes.

Perhaps a comparison against other black and white banded or other contrasting banded animals is in order, such as our bandy bandy snake.

I remember a greeting card something to the effect of mama zebra telling her children that they couldn't afford Arsenal kits this year and would have to be happy with the ones they had.
